Knock Knock: LInux support for ESP32 setup

You have Mac and Windows instructions, but no Linux instructions.

How do I update the ESP32 firmware from Linux?

When I purchased this, there was no mention that I had to use a closed, proprietary operating system to make this.

Guide Sections of Light Touch: Lights drop internet connection frequently

Hi, so I made these for a friend and me, but we get random interruptions in the connection.

We both run software to monitor our wifi networks and we can see that the lights disconnect randomly and reconnect most of the time. We both have to connect to the YoYo wifi and input our passwords every couple of days.

Is there something we could do to fix this?

Speed Dial: Servos are going crazy!

Connected to wifi and pressing boot on one lights up the blue LED on the other.

But on connecting the servos they go round at high speed! When I touch the wire on one, it changes to medium speed, then if I touch again to lower speed, then if I touch again - to jittery ticking seemingly with a mind of its own! After a minute or so, the jitter stops. This get transmitted to the other device so the other servo does the same, but not the other way round!

Any ideas?

Guide Sections of Light Touch: Instant Crash: Firmware Uploader Quits Unexpectedly

Following the tutorial, you'll end up at task 3 "Download the Firmware Uploader".

After downloading and installing it, one will be prompted by a request to give the application permission to be launched - so far nothing out of the ordinary. AFTER one does this, the application should be good to go.

Yet, AFTER giving it all the permissions it could ask for and Apple could take from it, it still does not launch. The application's icon will briefly pop up, go away, and pop up one last time, more or less quickly prompted by a crash report, saying that the application quit unexpectedly. I am currently running macOS Sonoma 14.1.2.

Guide Sections of Light Touch: Cycle LED color when using external button?

I’ve attached a simple momentary switch between GND and D23. This button works to trigger a touch, but keeping the button held does not cycle through colors the same way that the capacitive wire did. Is there a fix for this?

Speed Dial: Servos moving randomly and trying to reset?

My two boards are connected (tested via the boot button), but when sending input via the capacitive touch, about 50% of the time, the servos will just moving from 0⁰ to 180⁰ and back again, over and over, until they decide to stop, and then accept no input for about 20 seconds, and then reconnect (three blue flashes). Then, the device which I was using won't accept any input, and i have to send a message from the other device.

When they do work (touch steps the motor about 30⁰) when it gets to the 0⁰ position, the servo is trying to go further (can hear the motor whining/attempting to go further).

I've flashed the boards a couple of times - does it sound like there's an issue? Anyone with any suggestions?

thanks!

PIR: Fans are spinning non stop / don't seem to react to the PIR sensor

When I set up two flutter by devices, the fans are spinning constantly.

I have tried pointing the PIR sensors in different directions, tried to cover them, stabilizing them, etc. I even unplugged them. The fans are still spinning. (changing the timing of the fans works, but then they will only stop shortly, then continue). What could be the issue here?
