Root: How to build and upload custom firmware from source code

I'm trying to build and upload firmware to my device from the source code here:

https://github.com/interactionresearchst...

I'm running into a problem where the device reboots when I try to connect it to WiFi. I've written out the full issue here and intend to add a section to the readme on how to modify the firmware and upload a custom build. Is there any further documentation available on how to do this that might help resolve the issue, and if not, could you help me work through the issue below please?

https://github.com/interactionresearchst...

Thanks,

Knock Knock: One flashes correctly, the other not

I’ve gone through the procedure to install the firmware and it works fine with one device. The other seems okay, at least the firmware uploader says it is successful, the network appears to set up but it wants me to input the Remote Yo-Yo Code rather than already know it as in the picture. The blue light flashes on on device but not the other. I’ve tried several times.

Light touch: Firmware uploader blocked as malicious file

Hi

I want to build the touch light devices.

I’ve downloaded everything, but when I try to upload the firmware I get a warning from Cortex XDR, and it does not let me proceed. I do not have rights to stop Cortex XDR.

Is there another way to upload the firmware (plain old Arduino IDE, Platform IO, ??)

Update (05/22/2022)

I solved the problem by using the firmware uploader at home on my personal computer.

At work, the IT help desk called me to be sure I had deleted the “dangerous file”. Funny, or should I be afraid of yoyo machines?

Speed Dial stops working in the morning: Two days in a row, my Speed Dial has been either unresponsive or weird

Both times it’s been in the early morning. Could it be server outages ?

Also, are the various weird behaviours (eg, button makes pointer move, but it then immediately moves back) actually error messages ? Are they documented somewhere ?

Thanks!
